الملخص
Background: included the evaluation of performance of
estimating Serpin C, placental growth factor (PLGF), and
soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase 1 (sFlt-1) in serum samples
obtained early in pregnancy in samples of normotensive
(NT) pregnant women to identify those liable to develop
Gestational hypertension (GHTN) or preeclampsia (PE) and
to discriminate the risky women for early-onset PE (EO-PE).
Methods: blood samples obtained from 225 NT pregnant
women for chemical pregnancy diagnosis were stored for
ELISA estimation of the studied biomarkers. Blood pressure
(BP) measures were recorded monthly. Results: During
follow-up, 66 and 47 women developed GHTN and PE,
respectively, and 12 of the preeclamptic women had EO-PE.
Estimated levels of Serpin C and PLGF were markedly
decreased, while serum sFlt-1 levels were highly increased
with an elevated sFlt-1/PLGF ratio in PE than in GHTN and
in GHTN than NT women. Statistical analyses defined low
serum Serpin C and high sFlt-1/PLGF ratio in early
pregnancy as a predictor for the oncoming hypertensive
disorders, but serum Serpin C is a significant identifier for
women liable to have EO-PE.
