الملخص
Energy Storage Systems (ESS) are one alternative for increasing the reliability of renewable energy systems while also reducing the imbalance between energy consumption and generation levels. Hybridizing renewable energy systems with ESS is one way to achieve these goals. After doing this study, we hope to be able to offer some guidance on how to scale the renewable energy components in a microgrid under various ESS scenarios.
Off-grid renewable energy system including photovoltaic solar panels and wind turbines, as well as fuel cells and batteries for energy storage, is described in this study. Homer Pro® Renewable Energy Programs' Hybrid Optimization Model was used to perform the study in an outpatient clinic in New Cairo, Egypt.
The battery storage systems under consideration include lead-acid batteries, lithium-ion batteries, vanadium redox batteries, nickel-iron batteries, zinc-bromine flow batteries (ZBF), as well as fuel cells. The purpose of this study is to compare several storage systems to find the optimal storage system in terms of overall system cost and the degree to which the suggested system is reliable.
