الملخص
Effective sediment management at water intake stations along alluvial channels is essential for maintaining operational efficiency and preventing adverse hydraulic conditions such as eddy formation and sediment deposition. This study investigates the implementation of an innovative perforated baffle wall system designed to mitigate sediment accumulation at intake structures. A physical model at a 1:50 scale was used to evaluate the performance of a single baffle wall with designed void spaces, which facilitate water flow while controlling sediment transport. Eight test scenarios were conducted to determine the optimal design configuration. Experimental results demonstrated that the best performance was achieved with a baffle wall length equal to twice the intake width, positioned at a 30° angle relative to the bank line. This configuration significantly enhanced sediment control, reducing accumulation rates by approximately 79% under maximum flow conditions.
