The current study aimed to explore self-compassion and its relationship with cognitive distortions among divorced women. It also sought to identify differences between individuals with high and low levels of self-compassion in terms of cognitive distortions. Additionally, the study aimed to examine the possibility of predicting cognitive distortions through self-compassion among divorced women.
The study sample consisted of 159 divorced women from various centers in Cairo and Qalyubia governorates.
The study utilized the Self-Compassion Scale developed by Neff (2003) and adapted into Arabic by the researchers, along with the Cognitive Distortions and Thinking Errors Battery designed by Ahmed Haroun (2017), and ademographic data form prepared by the researchers.
The results revealed a statistically significant correlation between the mean scores of the sample on the Self-Compassion Scale and the Cognitive Distortions Scale. Furthermore, significant differences were observed between individuals with high and low levels of self-compassion on the Cognitive Distortions Scale. The findings confirmed the possibility of predicting the level of cognitive distortions based on self-compassion among divorced women.
