Abstract
Background: Inspirational leadership is increasingly recognized as a key driver of administrative creativity in healthcare organizations, as it enhances motivation, empowers innovative thinking, and promotes a supportive and change-oriented work environment among head nurses. Aim: The study aimed to assess the effect of an inspirational leadership educational program on head nurses’ administrative creativity. Research design: A quasi experimental research design was employed. Setting: Was conducted across all inpatient units in the medical and surgical buildings at Benha University Hospital. Subjects: Included all 55 head nurses working at the previously mentioned study setting. Tools: Data were collected using three tools: (1) Head Nurses’ Inspirational Leadership Knowledge Questionnaire, (2) Head Nurses’ Inspirational Leadership Skills Questionnaire, and (3) Head Nurses’ Administrative Creativity Questionnaire. Results: The findings revealed that 74.5% of head nurses demonstrated a good level of inspirational leadership knowledge immediately after the program, which slightly declined to 63.6% at follow-up. A high level of inspirational leadership skills was achieved by 89.1% of participants post-program, and decreased to 76.4% at follow-up. Regarding administrative creativity, 81.8% of head nurses attained a high level immediately after the program, which declined to 70.9% during follow-up. Conclusion: The inspirational leadership educational program significantly improved head nurses’ knowledge and skills related to inspirational leadership as well as their administrative creativity. A highly positive statistically significant correlation was found between total inspirational leadership knowledge and skills and total administrative creativity at both post-program and follow-up phases.Recommendations: Adopt inspirational leadership traits as criteria in the selection and promotion of nurse leaders and use new technology to enhance administrative performance.
